The Basement Players offer a wide range of improv antics, taking advantage of a bunch of different games, not to mention both Chicago-style long and short scene formats, most based on audience suggestions. The Basement Theatre is located -- as the name indicates -- in the downstairs area underneath a colorful bar. It's a charming and intimate black-box theater space that's kind of a hidden gem, so look for the sign on the street and the lighted arrows that point the way to lots of laughs. A One-Man Version of Every Christmas Special You Have Ever Seen (almost)
Andy Livengood (Charleston's Best Local Comic 2010) has watched every Christmas TV show and movie so many times he knows most of them by heart and he'll break them down for you in this a one-man comedy show. You'll see a rap version of The Grinch, a disgruntled angel and a super-fast take on A Christmas Story — the "you'll shot your eye out" movie. Drop the kids off at grandma's because nothing's sacred in this high-energy romp through all of the holiday classics.
This 50 minute one-man comedy was co-written by Livengood and Greg Tavares (The Have Nots! and Theatre 99) and directed by Tavares.
