Prosperity seems to be just over the horizon for a seacoast town as a health spa created from the local springs prompts hopes of major economic growth. But when visitors to the community start getting sick, Dr. Stockmann discovers that the town's water is poisoned and reports it to the authorities. Instead of earning him praise as a hero, Stockmann's good deed is seen as having the potential to ruin the town's newfound financial security. This adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's 1882 political thriller by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Arthur Miller is a penetrating exploration of the question of whether the good of some outweighs the good of the rest.

Beneatha's Place: World Premiere of A Raisin in the Sun-Inspired Drama

Full Price:
$50.00 - $60.00
Our Price:
$25.00 - $30.00

Beneatha's Place picks up the story of Beneatha Younger from Lorraine Hansberry's landmark A Raisin in the Sun and follows the character's journey beyond that iconic Chicago living room. From 1959 to the present day, from her home in Nigeria to her career at a California university, Beneatha's Place explores the power of identity as one woman confronts fundamental questions of community and legacy. Written by noted actor, playwright and Center Stage artistic director Kwame Kwei-Armah, this world premiere theatrical event is part of Center Stage's The Raisin Cycle, which explores the legacy of A Raisin in the Sun and facilitates conversation about the state of race and class in today's society. Extraordinary performance. Ibsen can sometimes be tedious, but not in the hands of this brilliant cast.

Enjoyed seeing this. Actors were good, though I had trouble at times hearing the lead actor, Dr. Stockmann. He doesn't enunciate as much as he could.
