Hard-rockin' Texas legends ZZ Top, "That Little Ol' Band From Texas," are coming to town, and you can see them live in concert, with Jeff Beck, at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia. ZZ Top, the bearded masters of blues-rock, are the only rock band ever to keep their entire original lineup intact for forty years, and Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard are still going strong. Known for such hits as "La Grange," "Sharp Dressed Man," "Gimme All Your Lovin'" and many, many more, their legendary live shows prove that they've still got the chops after almost half a century of rock 'n' roll. Having started his career with The Yardbirds, the Grammy-winning Beck has gone on to rank as one of the most influential lead guitarists in rock history, holding a place among the Top 5 in Rolling Stone's "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time." Expect a full set from each act, and a flame-throwing finale that brings them both back to the stage for some sure-fire shredding. The supporting act for the evening is Grammy-winning guitarist Gary Clark, Jr. Hailed as the future of Texas blues, Clark's trademark fuzzy guitar sound and smooth vocal style shows off a sleek new blues style influenced by jazz, soul, country and even hip-hop. Awesome show, the lasers were really exciting, the musicians were top-notch, the song selection was spot-on, the backup singers were phenomenal, and the giant inflatable kangaroo was super cool. Great use of money and a Tuesday night.
