Singer-songwriter Lionel Richie got his start in Motown as part of the Commodores, but it's as a solo artist that he really shines. One of the most successful musical acts of the 1980s, he kicked off a string of No. 1 hits with his debut "Truly," and continued to rule the charts with smash singles like the Caribbean-flavored "All Night Long," "Endless Love" with Diana Ross, "Hello" and "Say You, Say Me," which also won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe. Now the five-time Grammy winner is following up a sold-out European run with a North American tour, including a stop at Wolf Trap. He'll perform hits from his 30-year discography, beginning with his eponymous 1982 debut and extending through 2012's Tuskegee, a platinum-selling collection that features duets of his hits with a variety of artists. Word on the street is that these concerts tend to become giant sing-alongs, so brush up on your lyrics and get ready for some of the greatest ballads the '80s had to offer. Sharing the stage with Richie will be CeeLo Green. Known for his solo career as well as being a part of the soul duo Gnarls Barkley, Green's recorded numerous hits and is most widely recognized for the chart-topping singles "Crazy," "Forget You" and for serving as a judge/coach on The Voice. Stilt walkers and balloon animals will fill the lobby of Centerstage as the Party Animals bring their rock-n-roll show and pre-show carnival to Baltimore! Renowned internationally and a hit along the West Coast, the Party Animals are a playful rock band aimed at children ages 2 years old through 10.
There is a pre-show where stilt walkers and aerialist entertain on the stage as well as face painters and balloon artists in the lobby making sure all the kids are ready for the concert. The Party Animals then take the stage dressed as animal rock stars, to perform a 45 minute set, a collection of original songs and children’s classics. Children are encouraged to stand up, sing along and dance. After the show, there is a meet and greet with the cast, allowing the kids to go home with autographs, pictures and stickers.
The Party Animals are widely popular in Southern California and have travelled extensively throughout Europe as the first entertainment booked by the USO to entertain the families of troops living on bases abroad.
