Spectrum Dance Theater breaks in the new minimalist performance space at the Tacoma Armory with Donald Byrd's modern masterwork Love. Set to Benjamin Britten's Cello Suites, the piece explores the emotional complexities of intimate relationships through the expressive lifts and leaps of contemporary dance. Spectrum's artistic director and choreographer Donald Byrd, a Tony nominee for The Color Purple, is a true legend of modern dance who's created more than 80 works, including pieces for such prestigious organizations as the Alvin Ailey Company and The Joffrey Ballet. CityArts Magazine raves about a prior performance of Love, "Every dancer in the company was spellbinding -- full of elegance and technique and deep emotional response." Learn More

Good quality show. We enjoyed the costumes, danicng and staging. Although not as elaborate as PNB production in McCaw hall, price is great and show is worth seeing.
Exquisite costumes, sets, choreography, artistic direction and soloists all originate in St. Petersburg, Russia, honoring the purity of the original 19th century production.
International Ballet Theatre performs The Nutcracker ballet in its traditional Russian style with extraordinarily beautiful costumes and tremendous pageantry. Guest principal dancers from the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg bring international gravitas to an intimate setting.
