We really enjoyed the play, thought the actors both were superb, the stage was great, and the special water effects were surprising. The final scene of letters drifting down was terrific! We sat in BB, to the far right, and at times Cal could...continued

The first act flies by and it's difficult to believe that it's just two actors trading dialogue that comes straight from their correspondence. It's a tribute to the script and the actors. The second act isn't quite as engaging. There are too...continued

Very impressive performance by two truly great artisits on a very difficult piece. It is amazing they can deliver all o these thousands of lines so smootly and with such warmth. Just top artists at their finest.

As usual, the acting and staging were up to Berkeley Rep's high standards. Dear Elizabeth drags towards to the end but the two actors are riveting. A fascinating look into the lives of the two poets.

Extremely well acted by two experienced actors, they play was of mild interest to me. Neither character was someone to whom I could relate. The gimmicks, i.e. waterfalls, floating "planet" were an unnecessary distraction.

Amazing the director was able to create a play only from letters written between these two literary dynamos. And because the language is from exceptional writers, it is rich. Being in the balcony made it a bit hard to hear the actors so...continued

Play was very poignant. Didn't think it would hold my attention but I was mesmerized. Also a bit humorous. Special effects were a plus, very clever stage set.

A very good play. It was interesting how it was staged. It kept the story interesting though told primarily through the letters.

The lives of the two poets are interesting but somehow the play doesn't quite connect. It was enjoyable and I wouldn't recommend not going but I can't say I loved it

A love affair distilled down to it's essential artistic and intellectual core. Wonderful poetry.

excellent performance by both actors - intriguing staging for the writing (which pulled off nicely) for the format, phenomenal stage effects which I usually don't go for but the rain was just spectacular and unexpected, totally connected to the...continued

It was a beautifully staged play based only on letters between two somewhat unknown poets. The premise could have been boring, but it was poignant, funny and engaging. The acting was superb. Lovely play.

Enjoyed it more than I thought I would! I love the theatre, but really like original writing--more than a compilation of letters. Yet this play was riveting!

Who would think that a play made up of letters between two people would be such riveting theater? Of course the people in question are both famous poets, articulate and witty, with messy personal lives. Add to that charming staging and terrific...continued

Wonderful play! We had good central seats, the stage is great, what a great format the play has! You have the impression that Cal and Elizabeth are far away from each other although they are there together on stage, next to each other... And at...continued

This was a wonderfully acted, thoughtful play about a friendship which endured many years and many turns in the road.

The staging was terrific. The acting was superb. But the play was a bit like intellectual masturbation. I went because of the good reviews. After seeing the play I have to ask "What were the reviewers thinking?" It was just OK!

Fabulous play that we wouldn't have seen had we not been tempted by Goldstar. Great acting and the staging was fantastic.
