Members Who Went Said:Delightful program, great musicians, lovely venue.
Anonymous Member This was a lovely chamber music group in a lovely setting. They were not prepared for the crowd they got - had to scurry around and set up more chairs, but the room was large enough and the acoustics sublime. I will attend again in the future, even at full price! |

Event Highlights
More Details About This Event: The Laurel Ensemble specializes in a rich and varied repertoire for mixed strings, winds and keyboard to explore and present select, but often overlooked, works from the chamber music literature. They'll be performing Brahms' Quintet for Clarinet & String Quartet, Op. 115; Ravel's Introduction and Allegro; and James Cohn's newly commissioned piece for the Ensemble with guest harpist and violinist. Reception follows for audience and artists.
About Berkeley Chamber Performances: Berkeley Chamber Performances is a nonprofit presenting organization for chamber music in the East Bay. Founded in 1993, it presents mostly, but not exclusively, local musicians, and attempts to press the boundaries of "chamber music" by including in each five-performance season one jazz or "world" music performance. Concerts take place Tuesday evenings at 8 p.m. in the historic Berkeley City Club. Following each performance is a reception where audience members can eat and drink as well as converse with the performers. Berkeley Chamber Performances would love to expand its audience to those who generally do not attend chamber music concerts. About Berkeley City Club: Founded in 1927 as The Berkeley Women's City Club and designed by Julia Morgan, the Berkeley City Club is a California State Historical Landmark. It is an active social organization in the Berkeley community. The Berkeley City Club provides beautiful accommodations to out-of-town guests as well as locals. |
