Celebrate the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Mummenschanz ensemble as its highly imaginative touring stage show comes to Zellerbach Hall. Since 1972, Mummenschanz has created a surreal, comic, wordless universe where the ordinary becomes extraordinary, entertaining generations of audiences in the process. Through the use of everyday objects and materials like tubes, wires, fabric and boxes, the clever ensemble creates fantastical characters that come to life with the help of the audience's imagination. Here's your chance to see this legendary mime-masque theater troupe as they take their jubilee anniversary tour around the world.

Close to 100 of the country's most talented up-and-coming young musicians team with world-renowned conductors to perform at this prestigious festival, now in its 26th year. The University of Maryland School of Music chooses the players for its month-long professional development series through a rigorous, cross-country audition process. Once admitted, these rising stars soon form ensembles known for producing innovative programs. The concert series features pianist Asher Fisch as both soloist and conductor on Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 17, along with performances of Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto and John Adams' innovative piece Harmonielehere, among others. This was a great show for kids. We felt it was a little too long, we ended up leaving at the intermission. It was entertaining for the first half, but we couldn't imagine sitting through another hour of it.

This was one of the most creative performances I have seen. Glad I caught this show, won't forget it.

dated, juvenile and a bit dull...
For kids under 6 years old...it would be creative and fun.

I saw this show 15 years ago on a school field trip and was excited to be able to see it again! (This is their 40th anniversary show!) The performance was just as magical as it was back then. :) A very kid-friendly show, definitely worth seeing!
