from the dancing on stage to the mingling outside the auditorium after the concert, one could see dedication to hula. Na Lei Hulu does not participate in the Merrie Monarch because they are so cutting edge--perhaps not their reason; however the choreography cuts across the ages of hawaiian dance and o'ahu history (& make sure you pronounce it
o a hu). dance can make you laugh as well as cry. this halau can do both. kamaaina to malahini, we loved it!

My husband (Hawaiian) and I enjoyed this performance. The program consisted of short hula dances, both traditional and some that have been blended with modern dancing, music, and singing. Narration also introduced Hawaiian history. It is nice to be able to take part in the Hawaiian culture out here in the Bay Area.

I love me some good hula and that's what you get from Na Lei Hulu I Ka Wekia. Not only do you get the "traditional" hula that you see when you visit Hawaii, but you also get ancient hula, Hawaiian history and modern hula. My favorites are the modern hulas - set to techno or motown or rap - you just never know. It is dance that really pushes the envelope and it is so well done that you can't help but love it.

Beautiful and fun performance from this contemporary hula group! With the incorporation of traditional hula with music from "today", Na Lei Hulu I Ka Weiku gave an entertaining, yet story telling performance.

Loved it!
