Berkeley Ballet Theater renews its annual family production of Tchaikovsky's beloved holiday ballet The Nutcracker
, recently called "more touching than San Francisco Ballet's performance," by The New York Times
Dance annual. In it, the young Clara goes on an exciting journey that includes a battle between the Mouse King and a Nutcracker and into the Land of Sweets. The lead roles of Clara, the Snow Queen and the Sugar Plum Fairy will be performed by dancers from the highest levels of Berkeley Ballet's acclaimed Pre-Professional Youth Company, many of whom have spent their summers training in schools affiliated with American Ballet Theater, San Francisco Ballet, Boston Ballet and more. This must-see production, which has earned raves from New York Times
dance critic Alastair Macaulay, is choreographed by Sally Streets and Robert Nichols.
