Children of all ages can experience the classic Alice in Wonderland story in a new way in this circus adaptation filled with clowns, acrobats, jugglers and musicians. Created by Cirque Du Soleil's Jeff Raz, Wonderland follows Alice's wild adventures as she encounters the caterpillar, the white rabbit and the dreaded Queen of Hearts while searching for a way home.

This is a beautiful adaptation of Alice in Wonderland gorgeously staged and showcasing the very talented senior students of the SF Circus School. Might be a bit slow in places for very young children but since there are moments of fantastic stunts, tricks, jokes, acrobatics, tap dancing and music they quickly recover. Not too long and admirably directed and written.
You know I enjoyed this production more than I thought I would. I love how the cast was creative in how they created the "sets". You really had to visualize and use your imagination. I also enjoyed the dancing and the guy that tap danced along with the small scale acrobatics and body movements. I thought "Alice" was very captivating - just wish she could project a little better. I some times had to strain to hear what she was saying. Overall, glad I went.
Good event for kids but adults may not enjoy it as much as the young ones do. I have to say...the rabbit stole the show! Also, the theater in Berkeley was really cute!

Renowned architect Julia Morgan designed this building in 1908 as the St. John's Presbyterian Church. Working with a budget of two dollars per square foot, Morgan used natural redwood paneling, once affordable and abundant, for the interior and exterior of the building.

Active Arts Theatre for Young Audiences is a professional, nonprofit theater company founded by veteran actors from the Bay Area's vibrant theater scene, along with local visual artists and educators. All of the company's repertory is performed by a cast of professional adult actors, instead of the standard mix of young performers and adults. Since the company's debut in 2004, Active Arts has performed for more than 8,000 children and families. In addition to their season at the Julia Morgan Center for the Arts, Active Arts performs at the Bay Area Discovery Center and at libraries, community centers and in schools on both sides of the bay.
