Next Fall: Round House Theatre Stages the Recent Broadway Hit
- Full Price:
- $51.00 - $61.00
- Our Price:
- $25.50 - $30.50
The contemporary Broadway hit Next Fall receives its DC area premiere at Round House Theatre. The Tony Award-nominated play finds New York couple Adam -- an older neurotic atheist -- and Luke -- a devoutly religious struggling actor -- going about their lives, until a tragic accident disrupts their five-year relationship's relative tranquility. Now Adam must turn to Luke's family and friends for support and answers. Written by Geoffrey Nauffts, Next Fall exposes the fundamental truth that we love people both because of -- and in spite of -- who they are. The play debuted off-Broadway in 2009 before enjoying a 2010 Broadway run. Tom Story, Chris Dinolfo, Dawn Ursula, Alexander Strain, Kathryn Kelley and Kevin Cutts star for director Mark Ramont. We liked it very much. The staging was very clever. The unfolding of the various relationships was fascinating. The female parts were the largest so the male parts didn't quite measure up. The actress who played the part of the Mother was wonderful. It was a delight to watch her. The representation of the daughter did not seem to ring as true as the part of the Mother. Goldstar was great and the theatre is lovely.Written on Nov 21 2009
I would recommend it. We had front row seats. Thank you.

Description
Area premiere
By Quiara Alegria Hudes
Directed by KJ Sanchez
Get on board for the funny, tender, heartwarming new play by Tony Award-nominee Quiara Alegría Hudes (In the Heights). The Atlanta Journal Constitution called Hudes “a writer of astonishing lyricism” while The Oregonian said her plays have “an exuberant, richly imaginative theatricality that’s entrancing.” The New York Times hailed her as “a confident and arresting voice.”
An ’83 Buick Regal may be an unlikely place to find out what family really means, but when Beatriz and her estranged daughter head west on a spontaneous cross country road trip, neither is prepared for what lies ahead. 26 Miles reminds us that the best souvenirs on the road of life are the relationships we make along the way – and that sometimes all it takes to find yourself is the power of family…and a herd of buffalo.
Blake's Take: Quiara has twice been a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and has won the Outer Critics Circle Award and the Lucille Lortel Award. The much-anticipated 26 Miles is sure to add to that list. We're honored to be one of the first theatres in the country to perform this rising star’s amazing new work following its recent world premiere.
Featuring Michael Frederic, Zabryna Guevara, Laura C. Harris and Triney Sandoval
