Next Fall: Round House Theatre Stages the Recent Broadway Hit

Full Price:
$51.00 - $56.00
Our Price:
$25.50 - $28.00

The contemporary Broadway hit Next Fall receives its DC area premiere at Round House Theatre. The Tony Award-nominated play finds New York couple Adam -- an older neurotic atheist -- and Luke -- a devoutly religious struggling actor -- going about their lives, until a tragic accident disrupts their five-year relationship's relative tranquility. Now Adam must turn to Luke's family and friends for support and answers. Written by Geoffrey Nauffts, Next Fall exposes the fundamental truth that we love people both because of -- and in spite of -- who they are. The play debuted off-Broadway in 2009 before enjoying a 2010 Broadway run. Tom Story, Chris Dinolfo, Dawn Ursula, Alexander Strain, Kathryn Kelley and Kevin Cutts star for director Mark Ramont. The play was fine and decently done but definitely aimed at a very young audience. I had gone in with the impression that it would be aimed at all ages. As it was it was still moderately enjoyable but I would have saved my money for something else if I'd known how clearly this was meant for kids.

That said, if you have kids it's probably a great chance to introduce them to the theater.

An effective, if occasionally not completely by the book, adaptation of the story. My nearly 7 year old daughter and I had just finished reading the book (I read it my early youth), and she loved it. My wife, who had not read the book, also loved it. Kudos to the Round House Theatre for a 1st class production of a treasured classic. They should reprise this show.

Quotes & Highlights

Description

Before Harry Potter or Percy Jackson, there was Madeleine L’Engle’s A Wrinkle in Time, the original youth sci-fi classic.

On a dark and stormy night, the eccentric Mrs. Whatsit arrives at the home of Meg Murry, a tomboy who doesn’t fit in at her New England high school. Meg’s scientist father vanished over two years ago, under mysterious circumstances. Aided by Mrs. Whatsit and her friends, Meg, her gifted brother Charles Wallace, and her friend Calvin are transported through time and space on a mission to rescue their father from the evil forces that hold him prisoner on another planet. John Glore’s delightful, wildly theatrical adaptation brings this acclaimed story magically to life.
