Christopher Wall's Dreams of the Washer King makes its West Coast premiere at Theatre 40 at The Reuben Cordova Theatre. In this small-town drama, 15-year-old sci-fi fan Ryan spends his time creeping around with his tape recorder, searching for "spectral signs" of his deceased dad. When a mysterious stranger and his teenage daughter move in near Ryan and his bank teller mom, dreams become unveiled, memory is explored, and mysteries begin to unravel. Andre Barron directs.

I thought the play and the acting was better than the set....which I believe clouded the plays settings. While it looks like there are two settings, there are four. If you do not get this then you miss what is happening in the play.Written on Feb 13 2012
I think the play is worth seeing and certainly the acting is worth seeing. I am surprised that the LA Times review loved the set..........I guess that is why I do not pay attention to LA Times reviews.

Nice playhouse on Beverly Hills High School property. Had never been here before, but will go back for another play.Underground lighted parking, comfortable seats, and talented cast.We were lucky enough to have the writer there and we could engage in conversation after the play. Well written and received. Worth the time.Written on Feb 10 2012

Unfortunately, this performance did not live up to the review that appeared in the LA Times. This was an unbearable theater experience. I would have left earlier if the exit door was obscured in the dark. Avoid this play. Also the venue was difficult to locate. Half the audiece left after the first act. I should have.Written on Feb 06 2012
