Ulysses, from Homer's Odyssey, may have made it home but that doesn't mean his adventures are over. In Claudio Monteverdi's opera Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria you'll see Ulysses return from his journey only to face a trio of villains after his faithful wife Penelope. With a little help from his son, his friend and a few gods, Ulysses proves that treachery and deception can be beaten. Playing the title role and making his U.S. debut is Portuguese tenor and baroque specialist Fernando Guimarães and Jennifer Rivera, an internationally renowned mezzo-soprano, will play Penelope.
