The AIDS epidemic is escalating, the ozone layer is weakening and God has abandoned all mankind. This is the setting for Angels in America, Part Two: Perestroika, the conclusion to playwright Tony Kushner's Pulitzer- and Tony-winning masterpiece. Here, Kushner creates a cosmic-scale portrait of legendary characters, including ancient rabbis, blind revolutionaries, imaginary travel agents and, of course, angels, set against a backdrop of old relationships ending while new, unexpected ones begin, amid questions of morality, guilt and forgiveness. Clever, enjoyable, and well-written. Theater nerds will get the most out of it (you may want to brush up on Streetcar Named Desire and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, and at least wiki Waiting for Godot). I can see how it would be great on the page, or with real British actors.
Note: uncircumcised full-frontal. From like five feet away, because there are only three rows. I guess it alleviates all the high-brow literature, but still sort of unattractively exhibitionistic.
A comedy that proves everyone’s life means something—even if they don’t exist!
