Make no mistake about it, these reindeer games from the Happy Medium Theatre company are definitely for adults only. In this dark-as-coal Christmas comedy, the North Pole becomes a hotbed of scandal when one of Santa's eight tiny reindeer accuses him of a little jolly old sexual harassment. As the media catches the scent of scandal and invades Santa's sanctuary, the rest of the reindeer chime in with their own perspectives. The result: a heinous (and hilarious) tale of perversion and corruption that entangles everyone from the littlest elf in the workshop to, of course, the big man who sits in the sleigh: Saint Nick himself. With its firm commitment to community in mind, Happy Medium Theatre will be donating all profits from The Eight: Reindeer Monologues to various Boston area charities, including the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center, The Home for Little Wanderers and The Women's Center. A marvelous find - both the acting and the theater. Truly felt as if I were "the proverbial fly on the wall" being privy to the most intimate details of the lives of two young couples as they shuttle their audience into the trials of marriage, the tantalizing details of infidelty, parenting and friendship. The performers were compelling and quite accomplished in their craft...I was totally drawn in by the compactness of the theater which, in part, lends itself well to engaging the audience in a sensation of being part of the performance yet safely masked from participation. A really thought provoking play presented by a troupe that draws you in and carries you along through a series of excursions of the heart and mind. Submitted by "Ancoro Imparo"
