The AIDS epidemic is escalating, the ozone layer is weakening and God has abandoned all mankind. This is the setting for Angels in America, Part Two: Perestroika, the conclusion to playwright Tony Kushner's Pulitzer- and Tony-winning masterpiece. Here, Kushner creates a cosmic-scale portrait of legendary characters, including ancient rabbis, blind revolutionaries, imaginary travel agents and, of course, angels, set against a backdrop of old relationships ending while new, unexpected ones begin, amid questions of morality, guilt and forgiveness. The play was excellent-- a great birthday treat! The theatre was easy to get to on the green line, and parking was convenient to find for those of us driving. We arrived only slightly early but still got amazing seats for the performance. The lead actress did an incredible job; I would highly recommend seeing her!
