I've always enjoyed listening to this show on NPR and was pleased to be able to attend this taping at Jordan Hall in Boston. The show is inspiring, amusing and a treat for the ears.

Description

October 6, 2013: Niu Niu, Yuki Beppu

This concert showcases two of the Boston area’s most promising young musicians. 16-year-old pianist Niu Niu, currently studying at Walnut Hill School for the Arts, is an exclusive recording artist for EMI, the youngest ever signed to a major label at age 10. At age 12, he was the youngest pianist to record all of the Chopin Etudes. 16-year-old violinist Yuki Beppu, from Lexington, Massachusetts, will be appearing on the radio show for the second time; her first appearance on _From the Top _was taped in San Antonio, Texas in 2008. Yuki recently completed a year as a participant in From the Top’s Center for the Development of Arts Leaders, Boston, a program in which high school musicians develop leadership skills and use their musical talents to engage diverse audiences at community partner sites throughout Boston.

Boston’s very own national public radio hit series From the Top tapes live concerts at New England Conservatory’s Jordan Hall. Be part of an exhilarating show featuring incredible performances by inspiring young talent.

Hosted by acclaimed concert pianist Christopher O’Riley, the show highlights the amazing performances, heart, and humor of our nation’s best young classical musicians ages 8–18, through music and interview segments. From the Top tapings are a great introduction to classical music for families.

This show runs approximately 90 minutes with no intermission, and is recommended for ages 7 and older.
