In 1934 Berlin, two lovers are thrown on a train to Dachau as part of the Gestapo's plan to cleanse the city of "perverts." One denies his lover at the hands of the guards, but while at the camp, he learns that true dignity lies in acknowledging who he is. Bent is an award-winning WWII drama written by Martin Sherman that tracks the persecution of homosexuals in Nazi Germany. The play is historically significant because, before Bent's first staging in London in 1979, there was little awareness of Nazi treatment of homosexuals. With its potent statement, the play has helped increase historical research of and education about their abuse. Learn More

A set of 5 very different short pieces using various performance art forms. All ostensibly based on the theme, "there's no place like home". I went with several family members with widely varying tastes. We all enjoyed it enormously.
ARTiculation and Company One present a competitive multidiscliplinary night of extravagant, show-stopping brilliance spanning three nights. O_ut of the Box_ brings performance to the next level.
Using the theme of “There’s no place like home,” local performers from all backgrounds — actors, musicians, dancers, poets, puppeteers and everything in between — will converge on this multimedia battleground, the likes of which the Boston theatre scene has never seen. A winner will arise from the dust, judged completely by you, the audience.
