In this Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning drama set in the Bronx in 1964, Sister Aloysius, the principal of a Catholic school in the borough, takes matters into her own hands when she suspects that young newcomer Father Flynn has sexually abused the school's only black student. As she wrestles with her doubts, she questions an idealistic young nun and the mother of the alleged victim, perhaps changing them forever. The 2008 film adaptation, starring Meryl Streep, Amy Adams, Viola Davis and Philip Seymour Hoffman, earned Oscar nominations for all four actors. This gripping drama about suspicion, scandal and the elusiveness of moral certainty stars Karen MacDonald. Learn More

The promotional materials gave the impression of a larger scale professional performance. The production was more of a high school play with better acting. The main actress was very good. I did note the accessibility features were very good,...continued
Joan’s extraordinary journey, her unbounded faith in God, and her passionate determination to enthrone a King; produces what many consider to be Shaw’s greatest play. Expect comic moments amidst the drama. Expect to be inspired, uncertain, dismayed. Above all, expect to recognize, in these characters of the year 1429, qualities and conflicts still crucially important in the world of 2008. Can a young person make a difference in the face of great adversity? Can women be called to the pulpit? Can women be leaders of men? Do we, even now, have the answer to Joan’s final questions: “Oh God, that madest this beautiful earth, when will it be ready to receive thy saints? How long, O Lord, how long?”
