Sorry, Wrong Number 2011
Sorry, Wrong Number: Musical Theater Stars Comically Miscast in SpeakEasy Stage Benefit
Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts, Between Berkeley & Clarendon Streets (527 Tremont Street Boston, MA 02116)
In the annual comic benefit Sorry, Wrong Number, Boston's top musical theater stars perform songs from shows in which they would never be cast. You'll hear hits from such blockbusters as West Side Story, Dreamgirls, The Lion King and The Book of Mormon, but they'll be performed by characters who don't exactly fit the part. Imagine a beauty shop quartet singing "Big Girls Don't Cry" from Jersey Boys; a rugged leading man warbling "Happily Ever After" from Once Upon a Mattress, or a drag Julie Andrews leading a group of non-singers thru "Do-Re-Mi." Among the performers scheduled to appear this year are Amelia Broome, Leigh Barrett, Shana Dirik, McCaela Donovan, Kerry A. Dowling, Jennifer Ellis, Maureen Keiller, Will McGarrahan, Robert Saoud, Timothy John Smith, Kathy St. George, Bobbie Steinbach, and Jeffery Roberson (aka Varla Jean Merman). Following the event, enjoy a post-show reception with the cast.
