About the Ticket Supplier: The Greater Boston Food Bank

The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) distributes nearly 41 million pounds of food annually to an estimated 550 local hunger-relief agencies in a dedicated partnership to end hunger in eastern Massachusetts. Last year, GBFB provided nutritious food for nearly 545,000 people in need of emergency food assistance. They may be your friends, neighbors or colleagues — people who just can’t make ends meet in this down economy. GBFB is the largest hunger-relief organization in New England, and one of the largest food banks in the country. They are a trusted and efficient resource of healthy food for community-based food pantries, soup kitchens, homeless and residential shelters, youth programs, senior centers, and day-care centers feeding a growing number of clients. They need your help. Founded in 1981, GBFB is part of Feeding America, the nation’s network of 200 food banks and America’s largest hunger-relief organization. GBFB employs 80 people and benefits from the services of more than 15,000 volunteers annually to help inspect, sort and distribute enormous quantities of food and grocery products. GBFB operates out of a 117,000-square-foot facility in the Roxbury/Newmarket section of Boston. Of every dollar donated, 90.5 cents goes to GBFB’s core mission of feeding hungry people.
