It had been several years since I'd seen a production of The Nutcracker, and I was determined to get myself to the ballet this year! Everything was lovely -- the dancers, the exquisite costumes & sets, the music, all the excited little girls in the audience, and the Opera House itself, which was beautifully decorated. I did attend this event. I have to admit, I thought that the seats I had purchased were in a better location than they were. They were advertised as $100 seats that cost goldstar members $50. I brought my daughter for her 18th birthday and couldnt believe how far back our seats were located. There was also some woman who had not only her shoes off, but her socks too in the section next to me and the usher didnt say a thing to her. Not a good evening at all.Written on Dec 13 2009

Mikko Nissinen’s The Nutcracker features the Boston Ballet company dancers and more than 250 children from Boston Ballet School, hailed last year as “adorable, focused and disciplined” handling serious pattern and partner work with “impressive aplomb.”
This holiday tradition has showcased Boston Ballet and Boston Ballet School’s artistry, technique and love for dance for more than 40 years and continues to delight Boston audiences.
These magnificent sets and costumes will be retired after 20 years on stage in Boston. The Nutcracker returns to the stage in 2012 with new sets and costumes!
