She may be a housebound Maine woman, but Wanda Mae Pretty's fantasies more than make up for the mundane reality of her life. In this new play by acclaimed playwright David Valdes Greenwood, Wanda keeps a pen pal relationship with Rocky, a Florida inmate locked up for plant poaching, only to have Rocky show up on her doorstep in the middle of an October snowstorm. Peter Brown, Shelley Brown, Caitlyn Conley, Kate deLima, Terrence Haddad, and Craig Houk star for Argos Productions Artistic Director Brett Marks.

It was quite funny! Great acting, warm venue / employees / environment. A highly enjoyable experience, and at a great price at that. The production group is worth supporting and have a great missions statement. I'll be glad to go again!

Wonderfully acted tale which artfully brought home the similarities of prison penpal writing and today's computer dating scene. Found myself laughing comfortably and squirming a bit more than I expected. Comfortable seating and a truly charming cast and story.

Description

Wandaleria is a love story about Wanda, a housebound Maine woman whose fantasies of her ideal life outpace her more...mundane reality. Against the better advice of her roommate Betsy (and with the encouragement of her niece, Ivy), Wanda keeps a pen pal relationship with Rocky, a Florida inmate locked up for plant poaching. When Rocky shows up on her doorstep in the middle of a freak October snowstorm, Wanda considers a new life with a man on the lam. A hilarious and heartwarming story for a chilly winter night!

About the Ticket Supplier: Argos Productions

At Argos, we believe that the strongest way for us to help playwrights grow as writers is through production of their work. Putting the characters in three dimensions is the way we like to work, so the focus of our efforts is to get the play up on its feet. However, we know that not every show is ready for the stage right away, so Argos Productions strives to provide insight, support, and potential development opportunities to all playwrights who come to us, whenever resources will allow.
