view more less of this reviewI think the play was trying to tell a serious story about the death of a friend using today's college scene as a backdrop and the Hookman as a metaphor, but it never really tied anything together. A lot of the characters come across like characters in a situation comedy, and even if the playwright meant to do that as some sort of statement, it really didn't work and the comedy came across as stupid and flat, although some of the writing was clever. Also, the splatter zone wasn't necessary because the blood and gore isn't that big of a deal, and the parts that are meant to be gross and outrageous are pretty lame.

star this review starred report as inappropriateThe nice balance of horror and comedy helps you to get deep into the mind of a young girl as she tries to cope with the reality of how her best friend died. The production values and acting were of high quality and I thoroughly enjoyed the show.
star this review starred report as inappropriateNot my cup of tea. I found the play trivial and self-indulgent. Although there were moments of clever writing, the play never came together in an interesting way. The actors tried their best with the material and were quite good. The actress who played Jess was awesome.
