Shakespeare's beloved comedy is transported to a wintry forest for an enchanting escape this season. The whimsical story of romance, mischief and magic follows four young lovers into the woods on a sparkling cold night as they become the unwitting victims in a lover's quarrel between the king and queen of fairies. When a group of local rustics rehearsing a play also gets caught up in the madness, the comical snarl of spells seems impossible to sort out. But with fairies and sprites all around, it just takes a little more magic and, as Puck puts it, "all is mended." Kristin Clippard directs. Tickets for opening night include an hors d'oeuvres/dessert reception. Learn More
My Garmin GPS did not recognize the address of the Bowie Playhouse, though it did have an address for it when I looked up Bowie Playhouse. Maybe there has been a recent address chnage. It took some doing for a stranger to find the Bowie Playhouse, way off the beaten path....travel • Aug 19 2013 star this tip starred

Highly energetic and imaginative performance of this comedy classic, set in the 1950s (everyone smokes!). Diction and phrasing are wonderful by all actors, but especially by the main characters, so even a non-Shakespeare enthusiast can understand what is going on. Lots of genuinely funny moments, and some really great costumes. Recommend!
