The Cover of Life
flips back to a time when America was documented in the glossy pictorials of magazines like Life
. In this amusing and affecting play by R.T. Robinson, Henry Luce, legendary publisher of Life
, dispatches reporter Kate Miller to write a cover story about a trio of wives pining for their far-off husbands while living together at their mother-in-law's house. However, Kate, fresh off a tour of war-ravaged Europe, has little interest in manufacturing a "puff piece." Not to mention, the wives -- Sybil, Tood and Weetsie -- are far from the delicate models of womanhood that Luce has imagined. Bob Sams directs this charming and unforgettable play for the Bowie Community Theatre.
