Mystery and danger lurk around every corner as you explore Field Station: Dinosaurs at night, with only a flashlight and a rope to lead the way. You'll navigate the dark woods and haunted trails of Snake Hill and, as the path narrows, you'll step into the shadows of the historic giants. This is no ordinary trip to the zoo! Field Station: Dinosaurs is an outdoor dinosaur park featuring more than 30 life-sized, realistic dinosaurs, including the 90-foot-long Argentinosaurus, the largest animatronic dinosaur in North America. Set against the natural backdrop of the New Jersey Meadowlands and nestled into the base of a 150-million-year-old rock formation, the Field Station is a great nature escape that's only nine minutes from Manhattan. Dinosaurs After Dark is a unique family experience that includes an eerie presentation on the ghosts of Snake Hill, a special nighttime edition of the family Olympics-style T-Rex games, a dinosaur sing-a-long with a spectacular view of the New York City skyline and, of course, a campfire complete with roasted marshmallows and s'mores. The haunted house takes about 15-20 minutes to walk through.
There is a place to buy snacks and beverages at the venue.
The experience is somewhat physically challenging. There is uneven footing, it’s very dark, there are lots of twists and turns. Don’t wear high heels or skimpy sandals or gigantic platform shoes or clothes that keep you from moving freely. It’s a crowded environment and people are scared, which means they get a little sweaty, so its a lot better if you don’t wear your white cashmere sweater or your brand-new white jeans. Your shoes may get stepped on and your clothes might get mussed.
The house is not recommended for people with back or heart problems, pregnant women, those prone to seizures, anyone with an affliction exacerbated by anxiety or fear, or those with mobility problems. Further, there are enclosed spaces and minimal climbing may be necessary during part of the tour. You should also know that strobe lights and fog are used in the haunted house.
