view more less of this reviewI was excited for this having gone to the Nightmare event in NYC a couple of years ago. Unfortunately it didnt' quite meet my expectations. For one, the wait was longer than the actual walk through. We thought we got tricked when we reached the door and they told us it was over. Which would have been fine had it been scary. There were some good parts & the actors tried really hard, but it wasn't quite as together as the NYC version. Overall it was a fun pre-Halloween diversion. But I'm glad we didn't pay full price.

Description
What appears to be a violently mutating zombie virus originating in upstate New York will soon spill into the Bronx, resulting in Nightmare: Z-Day, the day the Zombie Apocalypse begins. Set to strike New York City’s Bronx section on Friday, October 7, 2011, Nightmare: Z-Day will ensue until October 31, 2011, the earliest date experts believe a retro-viral vaccine will be made available. Timothy Haskell, Creator of Nightmare, New York’s Most Horrifying Haunted House, along with Bronx resident and professional haunter, Bobby Ferrara, are the co-creators and directors.
Preliminary quarantine protocols are beginning in the Bronx, and 1157 Commerce Avenue (Pelham Bay) has been identified as the safest location for city residents to take refuge before the outbreak spreads to uncontainable levels. But many claim that location has already been tainted with infection and several zombie sightings have already been reported. Those brave enough to seek out this location during the fall are advised to avoid being bitten at all costs.
A more traditional haunted house than Nightmare's trademark theatricality downtown, Nightmare: Z-Day is an onslaught of monsters lurking in the dark and lunging out at every corner. And by monsters, we mean flesh eating zombies ... and lots of them. Participants experience the entire zombie ouevre the same way a character in a horror film would. Witness the nefarious means that create them, their coming alive, the chasing, eating, terrorizing and ultimately, their destruction. You will never know when you are safe.
Hailing from the Bronx, co-creator Bobby Ferrara is a longtime haunt enthusiast, horror nut and home haunter. He has been collecting haunt props and animatronics for some time and studying haunts from around the country - waiting for the day to open his own attraction. Now partnering with downtown's Nightmare and creator Timothy Haskell, he is finally bringing one to his own backyard.
Timothy Haskell (Creator and Co-Director) recently directed Off-Broadway’s Stitching (The Wild Project and The Elephant in Los Angeles), The Jaded Assassin (Ohio Theatre), Fatal Attraction: A Greek Tragedy starring Corey Feldman at the Classic Stage Company, Corporate Rock (Blue Heron Arts Center) and the Paris Hilton spoof I Love Paris by Doug Fields also at the Blue Heron Arts Center. He is perhaps best known for creating and directing the cult hit Road House: The Stage Play, which transferred from Off-Off Broadway to Off-Broadway at the Barrow Street Theatre. Mr. Haskell is also the creator and director of the annual Nightmare: New York’s Most Horrifying Haunted House. The most recent installation was Nightmare: Superstitions. Nightmare: Fairy Tales is the current Nightmare theme, running downtown on the Lower East Side this October.
