We loved the zoo & had a great time. We became members at the end of the day so it was a great opportunity to see all that we could. We brought our own food, which helps having a diabetic child, because he can't always eat items provided.

This was an excellent price for the event. The zoo can be quite pricey but having this ticket was a huge cost savings and there was no confusion when I handed the attendant the Goldstar confirmation document. As others have stated it is beneficial to bring your own snacks/refreshments because it can be costly to purchase food at the zoo. There are no restrictions on bringing a back pack or even a rolling cooler into the zoo and it is especially helpful if you have small children or are attending with others. I really enjoyed the day.

It rained the night before our visit so some of the exhibits like the Children's Zoo and the Monorail and a lot of the concession stands were closed. There were still plenty of exhibits to see but these were things I was looking forward to so I was disapointed to miss them. On the plus side no one goes to the zoo when the weather was bad so there were no lines for anything and we could get up close to all the animals.

There was a bit of confusion at the sales window when I presented my GoldStar Confirmation. The girl didn't know what it was and had to get a manager. So I think the Bronx Zoo needs to update all their personnel a.s.a.p. on the matter. Fortunately, after a few minutes of waiting we got our tickets no problem. Other than that, this deal for the total experience package at the Bronx Zoo is great! We were able to do many of the exhibits and had a fabulous time. Loved it!

If you want to go to the zoo, this is the way to go! Tickets are typically quite pricey (except for Wednesdays when admission is only a suggested donation).

I had an amazing time at the zoo. The Total Experience ticket is the way to go-- definitely has huge savings! Just fyi-- this ticket doesn't include the Camel rides; you will have to pay extra for that.
I agree with everyone else bring lunch, and water with you the zoo food prices are expensive. Also if you take the subway there (I took the 2 from Brooklyn) you will walk by many street vendors selling ices and fruit for a great price.
The exhibits are amazing... I loved the children’s zoo!! You can pet and feed animals at the children zoo. Bring quarters to get pellets from the vending machine ($0.50).

The Total Experience tickets are definitely worth it through Goldstar. While we didn't use all 7 of the passes to the other things (bug carousel or the monorail) we did get our money's worth.
I do suggest bringing lunch yourself as their food prices are a bit high. Don't worry because they provide picnic areas for you so go ahead and bring food. Or do as we did and have a big breakfast and just have some ice cream there. DEFINITELY bring some water though cause you're going to be walking around a lot!

We had a great time at the zoo. The Congo Gorilla Forest was definitely a highlight, as was the monorail. We went on a day when it rained for most of the day, so it was not as crowded and some of the features were closed (e.g., camel ride). The Goldstar tix were a big discount over the reg. price and we liked it so much we ended up becoming members of the WCS at the end of the day. One more thing: if you go from Manhattan, take the express bus on Madison - it was $5 and took us right up to the gate (and only took about 20-25 mins from midtown. Going home, same recommendation.

We had a great day at the zoo! The staff were very knowledgable and the woman in the monkey house answered all of my six year old's questions. The guided tour at the congo was also worth waiting for. Renting a double stroller (even though my kids are six and nine) made the day complaint free. The strollers are big enough and we did so much walking!

The Bronx Zoo is a stunning zoo with a ton to see and do. It's very similar in feel to the National Zoo in D.C.
The Congo Gorilla forest and Asia Monorail are not to be missed. The zoo is one of the best in the country without a doubt. I would say if possible to visit on a weekday and to go early in the morning. By mid-day Saturday the place was a zoo (pun intended). I would recommend bringing a picnic lunch, the zoo food is not appetizing and is very expensive.

Went on a Saturday morning, it was very crowded, but overall good...The zoo is huge, so comfortable shoes are essentials. Bring your own snacks because there is nothing to eat except for delicious Melted Dot ice cream. There are cafes but they are discusting...

I had a fabulous time at the zoo. It was a blast! I rode a camel, rode the monorail and thoroughly enjoyed seeing all of the animals, especially the gorillas in The Gorilla House and the wonderful koi pond in the Butterfly House. Thank you Goldstar for a fantastic discounted ticket which covered everything except for the camel ride (an extra $5). Well worth it!!!

Liked it, enjoyed it but would have enjoyed it more if the tiger mountains were open......but neways couldnt complete the entire zoo in one day so will go again to complete the rest and will the tiger mountains at that time.....the congo gorilla forest was amazing........there you can see that humans are evolved from the gorillas.........they understand your expressions and gestures.....they come when u call them.....
the monorail was also good.......everything there was good......but i would suggest the visitors going there to carry their own food from home coz you dont get much to eat there and whatever they charge is a lot too much....

Having the total experience tickets are well worth it since it allows you to enjoy a fuller experience at the Zoo. For example, the Wild Asia Monorail allows you to get right up to certain animals that you might not get to otherwise like the elephants and red pandas. However, make sure to get their as early as possible because the zoo brings the animals into their sleeping quarters about a half hour before the zoo closes.

What can I say it was the zoo! I really enjoyed the congo exhibit and the monorail. I have to say though these tickets are a bargain! The zoo charges you extra for several exhibits if you don't get the all inclusive ticket. So thanks goldstar. The food is pricey, we brought our own water bottle and refilled it when necessary.

Fabulous day! The discounted tix got us into all the special attractions w/o a hitch. And the food wasn't expensive at all. We bought two cups of coffee when we first arrived and got change back from two dollars. Not sure where everyone else was eating, but a Chicken Cesar Salad was $7.50. Thanks, Goldstar.

Our visit was very disappointing. I know summer was over, children were back in school but that is no reason to reduce staff, close shops and concessions without letting you know up front. The monorail wasn't running until the afternoon, they kept saying "another half hour". The signage was poor and there was no one to ask for directions. When you did find an employee at an exhibit, they were very knowledgeable but they were few and far between. I feel if they are not going to provide the full experience, they should reduce the entrance fee accordingly.

The ticket price was worth it.
My husband and I took our 3 year old son and we got to experience new things that we didn't before. We go to go to the Children's Zoo which my son loved. He go see the Giraffes and the Lions which he in totally into. The sad part was we didn't see the Gorillas or the Tigers because of the rain. We where told that the exhibit was damaged do to the last storm... But other than that we had a blast.

The zoo was fantastic apart from one or two exhibits not being available which I guess is all part of the zoo experience. The one negative would be that Goldstar needs to make sure the zoo is up to speed on will call. We had a little bit of hassle getting in with telephone calls to the manager before finally obtaining entry.
Otherwise a totally worthwhile experience and the gorilla exhibit being the highlight.

The Bronx Zoo is great - although it remains odd that in the 2.5 blocks between the subway (Tremont on the 2 & 5) there isn't really a coffee, or food product to be had. Anywhere else in the known world these blocks would have gentrified about 50 years ago. Oh well!
Everything about the Zoo works well - and the main zoo shop is terrific. Go early, do the Asia Monorail early when lines are small!
And have a Jolly Rancher!
If you don't have children, br sure to bring your tolerance and smiles with you as you will need them!

I was a bit disappointed with my zoo visit. Everything was closed - the monorail, tiger mountain, the concession stands. Out of the 7 main attractions we were only able to do 2 because the others were closed. I've been to the zoo several times and have never seen it as deserted as it was on this visit. It was a wasted visit.

This was my first visit to this zoo and I was totally satisfied with my experience. There is so much to see and all the exhibits are presented beautifully. The Total Experience Ticket is the way to go and is such a great value with the Goldstar discount. Make sure you hit the Congo, and the Monorail is a nice way to end the day or rest your feet while seeing more animals.

The Bronx Zoo is at the top of our list of things to do while living in NY (or just visiting). There is so much to do and see that I don't think you could see it all in one day, we were there until closing time. I wanted to purchase the Total Experience tickets which is all Goldstar had, BUT these are the tickets you want. You get to see everything and at the price Goldstar sells them for you can't beat it!

I loved the zoo, however it was very, very hot the day that my family went. There wasn't much to do in the way of "cooling" down the water fountains were few. I suspect because of the extreme heat, the bear exhibits and tiger exhibit were empty and we waited a while to see if they would appear. Considering the $$ you spend it was disappointing. The Congo Gorilla Forest was excellent!!! The trip was worth it just to see this exhibit. The other exhibits were also fun (Bug carousel, butterfly garden, reptiles, seals, etc. All in all it was a great day.

Terrific place for adults as well as kids. Goldstar entry accepted with no difficulty, and even on a summer Saturday the crowds were not uncomfortable. Food, souvenirs and such are very overpriced -- as to be expected in this kind of venue -- but it's well worth the time, effort, and expenditure.

I went with my parents and it was like being a kid again! Despite having an absolutely gorgeous day and being the weekend, the zoo was not too crowded. Be prepared for lots of little kids and some whining, but that's the only drawback. It's still really fun seeing kids' reactions to all the animals. The animals and attractions themselves did not disappoint either. They were playful, adorable, and hilarious! Don't miss the Congo Gorilla Forest. The expressions on these animals faces is priceless; try to make it for snack time.

I never tire of visiting the Bronx Zoo. It's come a long way from when the animals were in concrete cages (I know I'm dating myself... lol).
It's not just about displaying these wonderful creatures but about showing us how they live, how many are actually alive in the wild, what's being done to keep their species flourishing and what we can do to help.

FANTASTIC! It was definitely best to have the "Total Experience" tickets, as they allowed us into the special exhibits for free! The zoo itself is terrific, with the only negative experience coming at the box office at the Asia Gate (the closest gate to the subway)- the workers were extremely slow (and there was a long line waiting in the broiling sun), and when we gave them our name and Goldstar email they didn't understand what it was and had to get a supervisor to process our tickets. But that was just a minor bump in a wonderful day!

I have visited zoos around the world & rate Bronx Zoo in the top 20%. The ambiance is very good. The diversity of animals is not very high, but animals are well cared for. Water pools are badly maintained. Monkey house lacked the noisy energy of jumping & swinging monkeys.
African dances were very good & created an atmosphere of an evening on an African safari. Congo exhibit is excellent.
Take your kids out to the zoo & spend a day in the nature to realize that this earth is not only for human beings. These animals are also created by the same Creator & have equal rights on the earth's resources.

This was a classic zoo experience with and adult twist. Spending the day among the amazing animals is a wonedrful and humbling expereince for an adult getting in touch with his/her humanity. The zoo offers a variety of animals and attractions that delight and inspire. The special Congo celebration activities were worth making the trip for - the African Dancers were fantastic with energy and excitement that spread throughout the crowd. The gorilla and tiger exhibits were must sees, as well as the Asian jungle. There is so much to see and do in a day that it's impossible to do it all without being completely tuckered out. Pick and choose to get the most out of the day for the best experience.

We had so much fun that we exhausted ourselves. Only regret is not having brought a picnic lunch. I saw lots of people toting their coolers in wagons & strollers -- next time we'll come prepared. 3 adults & a 9 year-old child give the Bronx Zoo 4 huge thumbs up!!

You can't see the entire park in one day, so pick your favorites and head to those first. Anything else you have time for will be an extra bonus. I thought best part was Jungle World and the Asia monorail, though everyone else loved the Congo best.
The Tiger Enrichment session at 3:30 was a madhouse! I think we would have been better off going earlier in the day. See the big padlocked door up by the windows? That's where the tiger will be for the enrichment session, so station yourself around it, but not in the place where the door will fold down to be.

Won't belabor this by reiterating what a great zoo this is. I hadn't gone in about 15 years and it is better than ever. I am writing to say that I was spooked by all the negative press the eating facilities received from other members' reviews so much so that we packed a lunch as suggested. Well, that was a lot of work and not worth it. There were a lot of places to eat. They all looked fine. The lines were OK. The prices were as expected (sorry to all you mid-Westerners who think a $10.00 lunch is outrageous but it is normal for NYC). The facilities were clean enough (besides, even if you bring a lunch you eat it at the same tables). Don't get spooked and waste all your time packing a lunch and all your energy carrying it around. There is nothing wrong with the places to eat at the Bronx Zoo.

Zoo was a great activity. Spent about 3 hours there (we skipped on all the food which was around every corner). We happened to be there during the gorilla feeding which could not have been more perfect. I would definitely recommend trying to go during the animal feedings as you get to see more action than you normally might.

2 of the major exhibits were closed. The main major exhibit of the zoo, 'Congo Gorilla Forest' was closed and that too on the day they were celebrating its 10th anniversary. This was the main reason I took the family to the zoo !! And it was closed !! I overheard another poor zoo visitor complaining to a cop that the 'Congo Forest' was closed the last time he came to the zoo too. 'World of Darkness' was also closed. There is a lot of walking at the zoo from one exhibit to the other. And then you will be lucky if you get to see the animals. Whats the point of going to the zoo if the animals are not visible !!!! You walk 15 mins and then maybe you'll see one tiger or one polar bear or one baboon. Ridiculous !!! The zoo shuttle has only 2 stops where you can get on in this 265 acre zoo ! I've been to several zoos in USA and Canada and the Bronx zoo is surely at the bottom of the list. The only consolation is that I got the 'Total Experience' tickets really cheap. I would be a lot more pissed if I had to pay full price.

Be prepared for lots of walking and know that you can't see everything in depth in one day. That said, pick the areas you want to see most and focus on them leisurely. Some of our favorites were the monkeys, birds, the Mouse House, the sea lion pool (actually saw an amazing "conversation" between a parent and child sea lion), and the graceful giraffes. The butterfly garden was a bit disappointing--very few different species were represented. There was a LONG wait (about a half hour) for the monorail and I'm not sure it was worth the wait, given that there was virtually no wait for anything else we attended in the zoo that day, except maybe a brief one for the carousel. We didn't see anything so spectacular from the ride, though it was very comfortable and great to get off our feet. We brought water bottles (refillable from water fountains) and lots of sandwiches and fruit and that worked out well. Plenty of benches/tables to sit and eat at. Loved the ducks and peacocks (?) walking around free. Didn't do the children's zoo this time but in the past it's been great. The gorilla exhibit was very crowded, but that was expected--it was being promoted that weekend. Saw a well-done short film in that area. Overall it was a great value and I'm so glad I got our tix through Goldstar. P.S. If it's convenient for you to travel from Manhattan, the express bus BxM11 is a great option. $5.50 to ride in complete comfort. Just make sure you have coins, not bills, or a Metrocard (not one with a certain number of rides, but one that starts out with a cash value).

This experience was disappointing. We went excited to see the special gorilla exhibit that you pay extra for and it was CLOSED! No one thought to mention this at any time other than when you go to the area and find all the other visitors with sourpuss faces on. A few other exhibits were closed as well....leaving the ones that were open over crowded. If you do not have a child or do not like children I suggest going earlier in the season on a weekday before all the kids are at camp. There was a whole slew of brats that totally ruined more than one exhibit for me. The bronx zoo really needs to get their act together if they want to try and create a fun experience for everyone. If you sill want to go, make sure to bring your own snacks and water or face the crappy food at top shelf prices.

Just as it was when you were a kid. The seals, the lions, and tigers, and bears...(eh...not this time). If you take kids, make sure they can enjoy this as this is as much a learning experience as an adventure experience.(Even tho one I heard one kid shout "I DON'T WANT TO LEARN!") But overall, just perfect

the "Total Experience" ticket used to be $20 (now it is $27), so the Goldstar discount put the ticket price back into a reasonable price range. Thanks!

It was a rainy day so they gave us return passes to the zoo as well as giving us tickets to the Congo Gorilla Forest exhibit since there was a wedding taking place that day. We can not wait to go back!

I really enjoyed the zoo my husband and I had a blast. Our feet were sore from all of the walking, and we were tired by the end of the day but it was all worth it. Really wear comfortable shoes for all the walking that you will do with in the day. This was an excellent price for the event. The zoo can be quite pricey but having this ticket was a huge cost savings and there was no confusion when I handed the attendant the Goldstar confirmation document.

It was a great price for the all inclusive ticket. The kids had a wonderful time and we were able to do all the attractions and not pay extra. This was the first time we did all the attractions thanks to these tix. I recommend it, specially if you have small kids.

Great fun at a great price. I felt bad for all the other families there who were paying full price - and weren't getting the "Total Experience." The Butterfly Garden was my favorite part - so fascinating to see them up close - and the Bug Carousel was silly fun for all ages.
As other reviewers have mentioned, bring your own food! The food isn't necessarily overpriced, but it sure ain't that good. We were able to find street parking, which saved us $12.

This was a great price for the zoo which has become pretty expensive! It was crowded when we went and there were tons of boisterous kids and strollers but we still managed to have a good time. We brought our own food and drinks which was a big money saver. I would give yourself at least 4 hours to see and do everything.

The Total Experience ticket was a great idea as we did not have to stop at the ticket booths for activities within the zoo. The gorillas are AWESOME!

Discount tickets to the Bronx Zoo -- what could be better. My entire family and I spent the day at the Bronx Zoo. It's a beautiful park and a great time was had by all. The biggest problem was that they only had one line for Goldstar subscribers and we had to wait 20 minutes to enter the park -- a small price to pay!

I always love the Bronx Zoo, but to be able to pay half price for the total experience, in this economic environment, makes it even more enjoyable when you know you didn't have to spend as much.

Good time had by all! On Saturday it was a bit crowded but the Zoo is large enough to accommodate crowds. Highlight are the Butterfly, Gorilla and Asia Monorail exhibits.

I had more fun than expected. The weather cooperated, no rain, not too hot. The lines for the different shows/rides (Bengali Express, butterfly world)moved quickly. Highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't been to the zoo in years.

The discounted rate made the whole day. We were able to enjoy the park as well as a few additional attractions without breaking the bank. It's upsetting to see how expensive it has been to just enjoy a day at the zoo!
The Zoo itself was wonderful and we had a great time reliving our childhood moments and creating new memories. I Really miss the World of Darkness though.
Tip: bring your own snacks as the prices for those are outrageous as well. Wish we had thought of that beforehand.

Amazing deal! The total experience is the way to go and goldstar gives a great rate on it. Some of my favorite exhibits included the congo area, madagascar, and the sea lion feeding.
We took the advice of other people on goldstar and packed sandwiches to eat inside. If you're looking to save, you can always buy $1 water bottles outside of the zoo entrance too.
I definitely recommend the Bronx Zoo!

We had a great time at the zoo but I agree with what someone else had mentioned. Definitely try and bring your own lunch and water. I think the ticket price is totally worth it but the food prices most certainly are not.

Delightful experience. Went with a 4 and 6 year old. Clean environments for animals. Educational exhibits. The day was toooo short, we needed more time. The zoo could easily stay open until 6 or 7pm in the summer. Treat yourself and your family, visit the Bronx Zoo. Oh yes, public transportation was a breeze and most reasonable.

Really great experience. I hadn't been to a zoo since I can remember and the Bronx Zoo overshot my expectations. The zoo itself had acres and acres of land for the animals and it felt more like seeing animals in the wild than in captivity. The Gorilla exhibit itself made the Total Experience Ticket worth it. We went on a rainy day too, so were able to avoid crowds and got to see almost everything in the 4 hours we were there.
One thing to note - food is extremely pricey at the zoo so it's a better idea to bring your own sandwiches/snacks.
ALl in all, a great experience and awesome deal.
