The Brooklyn Soul Shakedown
The Brooklyn Soul Shakedown With JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound, The Revelations and More
It's sure to be a hot time at the Brooklyn Bowl for the Brooklyn Soul Shakedown
as headliners JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound and The Revelations take the stage, not to mention guests Mingo Fishtrap and DJ Jack Dutone. With raw emotion and sweat, one leather boot planted in gutsy R&B, the other in taut minimalism, JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound dish out post-punk soul with a snarl and a wink and unbridled enthusiasm. They've attracted a huge grassroots following, and their bold and imaginative cover of Wilco's "I Am Trying to Break Your Heart" has earned enthusiastic praise. The Brooklyn-based Revelations return to their hometown after months in the studio and on tour promoting the release of Concrete Blues
, the powerful follow-up to their 2009 debut album, The Bleeding Edge
. Featuring lead vocalist Tre Williams, they've made a name for themselves in both traditional and progressive soul circles.
