Disappointed, while I appreciate Taylor, Alan and others sharing fresh new material. Why were we subjected to the less than Sterling tale once again when I last heard it two years ago in Wordplay? Ick. Shock does not equal craft. I would not have attended had I known old material would have been presented once again.
I hold 826LA in enormous regard and I think that the Benefit would have been much better served minus the one repulsive, reheated tale.

My friend and I went and had a fantastic time. Everyone was hilarious and spot-on, and the music selections were right on target. I would definitely recommend this event to anyone looking to relax and laugh at the absurdities of the world.

WordPlay is a new spin on storytelling. Part This American Life, part stand-up comedy, it's where some of L.A.'s best writers and comedians come and share their true stories while our DJ spins a real-time soundtrack - like an organ player in a silent movie theater, but less Olde-Tyme.
And this special, best-of performance at a new, larger venue is to benefit 826la, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6 to 18 with their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write.
A great show for a great cause.
