Chelsea Handler -- irreverent host of the late-night talk show Chelsea Lately -- is hitting the road for a national stand-up comedy tour in support of her fifth book, Uganda Be Kidding Me. An absurd and hilarious collection of travel essays, Uganda Be Kidding Me finds Handler detailing her exploits while on safari in Africa, attempting to kayak in the Bahamas and escaping from a German hospital on crutches. She also shares her unique thoughts on etiquette, hot spots and memorable destinations. Handler's previous books, which include My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One-Night Stands, Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang and Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea, have been met with critical acclaim for their comedic voice. Be prepared for a night of laughs when the words in her latest book leap from the pages and are delivered straight from Handler's feisty mouth. Learn More

Disappointed, while I appreciate Taylor, Alan and others sharing fresh new material. Why were we subjected to the less than Sterling tale once again when I last heard it two years ago in Wordplay? Ick. Shock does not equal craft. I would not have attended had I known old material would have been presented once again.
I hold 826LA in enormous regard and I think that the Benefit would have been much better served minus the one repulsive, reheated tale.

My friend and I went and had a fantastic time. Everyone was hilarious and spot-on, and the music selections were right on target. I would definitely recommend this event to anyone looking to relax and laugh at the absurdities of the world.

WordPlay is a new spin on storytelling. Part This American Life, part stand-up comedy, it’s where some of L.A.’s best writers and comedians come and share their true stories while our DJ spins a real-time soundtrack – like an organ player in a silent movie theater, but less Olde-Tyme.
And this special, best-of performance at a new, larger venue is to benefit 826la, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6 to 18 with their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write.
A great show for a great cause.
