Once began as a music-fueled indie film that won the nation's heart in 2006, taking home the Best Original Song Oscar for its haunting love ballad "Falling Slowly." Now, Once has taken the Broadway stage by storm, earning eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The romantic tale follows a downtrodden Dublin street musician and a delightfully quirky Czech woman who meet in the least likely of places -- a vacuum cleaner repair shop. Their complicated lives make the path to love a rocky one, and they channel their feelings into the music they produce together -- him on guitar, her on piano, two voices harmonizing and setting them free, for a time, from the harsh realities of their lives. Camarillo Community Theatre presents the comical farce, Lend Me A Tenor. Written by Ken Ludwig and directed by James Castle Stevens.
The Cleveland Grand Opera Company is abuzz for the opening night performance of the world famous tenor, Tito Morelli (Mario Di Gregorio), who may or may not be dead in his dressing room. Throw in a starstruck opera fan (Mandy Nissen), an opera diva who will stop at nothing to seduce (Tosca Minotto), a general manager who needs this night to go flawlessly (Richard Large), an assistant who is hungering for his own big break (Mark Pamplin), and a large dash of mistaken identity, and you have a hilarious night of comedy that is sure to have you rolling in the aisles.
Also starring Lissa Grafton as Morelli’s hot-headed wife Maria, Todd Ball as the wacky bellhop, and Kate Landro as the colorful Chairwoman of the Opera Guild.
