Innovative jazz violinist Regina Carter is considered one of the most thrilling and accomplished jazz violinists of her generation. A MacArthur "Genius Grant" recipient, Carter's albums have explored diverse genres including early jazz standards (2006's I'll Be Seeing You: A Sentimental Journey) and African music re-imagined for violin (2010's Reverse Thread). Now the violin prodigy turns her attention to the folk music of the South with her latest album, Southern Comfort. The most recent in a long line of important and eclectic jazz artists from Detroit, Carter has been hailed as "wonderfully listenable, probingly intelligent and, at times, breathtakingly daring" by Time magazine.
