Theatrical luminary Tony Kushner, the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Angels in America and the brilliant libretto for Caroline, or Change, penned this delightful adaptation of Brundibar, a remarkable musical fable based on an opera that was first performed in the Czech concentration camp in which its original author was imprisoned. A fairy-tale opera about two children who must sing in the market to raise money for their ailing mother, Brundibar celebrates the triumph of the helpless over tyranny and the transformative power of art. Supplementing Brundibar is But the Giraffe, a brief Kushner-written companion piece about a young girl who has to make a tough choice. This show is produced by Underground Railway Theater. Learn More

No does Shakespeare better than Packer. What seems dense on the page is crystal clear coming out of her mouth. Her "overview" of Shakespeare's treatment of women is fascinating. Don't miss this rare chance to see Packer in an intimate venue.

Women of Will, the masterwork of Shakespeare & Company’s Founding Artistic Director, Tina Packer, is the culmination of her decades-long fascination with Shakespeare’s heroines. Through a combination of scenes, monologues and sparkling commentary, Ms. Packer takes us on a journey, illuminating the evolution of the feminine in Shakespeare’s plays, and in so doing, showing us the ways in which Shakespeare believed we could build a better world.
Women of Will features a special two-part schedule: For the first three weeks (October 13-30), The Nora Theatre Company will present The Overview, featuring highlights of the five-part The Complete Journey, which will be presented in the final week (November 2-6).
Presented by The Nora Theatre Company.
