Car Talk: The Musical!!! - Inspired by the Hit NPR Call-In Show
- Full Price:
- $45.00 - $50.00
- Our Price:
- $22.50 - $25.00
Inspired by the long-running hit NPR show Car Talk -- which is hosted by legendary (real-life) mechanics Click and Clack, the Tappet Brothers -- comes the hilarious new musical comedy, Car Talk: The Musical!!! at Central Square Theater. A co-production of Underground Railway Theater and Suffolk University, the show was written by Suffolk faculty member Wesley Savick, with original music by Michael Wartofsky. In it, Rusty Fenders, the hapless owner of a lemon '93 Kia, falls in love with Miata C. LaChassis. She guides him to the Emerald Garage, home to the Wizard of Cahs (portrayed by the recorded, heavily accented voices of Click and Clack themselves). Like the radio show, it's a romantic comedy about being in love with your car -- and so, so much more. Learn More

No does Shakespeare better than Packer. What seems dense on the page is crystal clear coming out of her mouth. Her "overview" of Shakespeare's treatment of women is fascinating. Don't miss this rare chance to see Packer in an intimate venue.Written on Oct 14 2011

Tina Packer analyzes and performs the Women in William Shakespeare in three brilliant groupings: women wearing dresses, who tell the truth and end up dead,"dying to tell the truth", women in pants passing as men, honest, listened to, and effective, and daughters or mystics who heal into the next generation. With Nigel Gore playing a shocking variety of men, (from an abusive Petruccio in Taming) Packer's tour de force makes us think not only of the role of women, but of the evolution of our own thinking over our lives, and is food for the authorship controversy as well. My party loved it. Just a shade long.Written on Oct 28 2011

A lot of Shakespeare in a relatively short period of time. While I appreciate Tina Packer's thesis, I did get a bit tired of the high pitch of the performances of the cuttings from the plays. I will, however, read Henry VI (all of them) again since I certainly didn't recall much from school. Thanks, Tina, for bringing that to my attention.Written on Oct 22 2011

Tina Packer's Limited Boston Engagement
Women of Will, the masterwork of Shakespeare & Company’s Founding Artistic Director, Tina Packer, is the culmination of her decades-long fascination with Shakespeare’s heroines. Through a combination of scenes, monologues and sparkling commentary, Ms. Packer takes us on a journey, illuminating the evolution of the feminine in Shakespeare’s plays, and in so doing, showing us the ways in which Shakespeare believed we could build a better world.
Women of Will features a special two-part schedule: For the first three weeks (October 13-30), The Nora Theatre Company will present The Overview, featuring highlights of the five-part The Complete Journey, which will be presented in the final week (November 2-6).
Presented by The Nora Theatre Company.
