The 8th annual Carlsbad Music Festival comes to the charming seaside Village of Carlsbad, featuring some of the most interesting musicians across the genres of classical/jazz, indie rock and world music. The event takes place within short walking distance of the train, the beach, and a variety of restaurants and hotels. Come early on either day for free outdoor picnic concerts in the courtyard of the Village Faire shopping center. The ticketed concerts, performed in the intimate Carlsbad Village Theatre, feature pianist Vicky Chow; vocalist Shara Worden performing the moving song cycle Penelope; indie chamber pop band My Brightest Diamond; Brooklyn-based post-classical quintet Build; and the Festival's Ensemble-in-Residence, the Calder Quartet. Purchase tickets to one concert or all five.

There is nothing like being in a small theatre venue! It's so warm and receptive and you really feel an attachment to the artist. Next year I will plan on attending more of the events with friends.Written on Sep 26 2011

Absolutely beautiful show! This was my first time inside the Carlsbad Village Theatre even though I've lived in this city all my life, and I was very impressed with it, I can't wait to see another performance there in the future.Written on Sep 26 2011

The information on the website was misleading. We expected public venues on Saturday in addition to the recitals, but the public venues were primarily Friday night also. We attended Vicky Chow's recital. She was wonderful but the venue was very disorganized.Written on Sep 26 2011
