The New Village Arts Ensemble presents the shortest and most farcical of Shakespeare's comedies. The Comedy of Errors takes twin masters each named Antipholus, their twin servants both inconveniently named Dromio, and puts them together in the same city for the first time, setting off a chain of mistaken identity mishaps. The New Village Arts Theatre is a popular local venue. This intimate gem features great acoustics, professional-quality talent and not a bad seat in the house. Audiences are invited to stay for a talkback with the ensemble after each performance.

A laugh-out-loud comedy that turns love into an art form, Brilliant Mistake is the latest from writer-director Suzanne Bachner. The play revolves around Finder of Lost Loves Mitzi Jackson, who is hired by acclaimed graphic artist Cameron to help find his birth mother. The play is Cameron's graphic novel presented live on stage, featuring a raucous cast of characters. Brilliant Mistake is structured as a true ensemble piece in the vein of Wes Anderson and Robert Altman, for a challenging, yet rewarding, comedy for grown-ups. Learn More

I thought the way they had it set like a 50's TV show was clever. The acting was great. I feel like this ensemble are my friends as I am a subscriber and go to every show. I marvel at the amount of difficult lines they need to know and animate. The quirky sound effects added alot too. Overall, it was enjoyable for being a work of Shakespeare and in that language.

Pretty good production. The leads were excellent especially the actress playing Luciana. The weakest links came from the actors portraying Angelo and Balthasar. It was almost as if you can see them thinking about acting... like they were trying too hard. I was not impressed. Otherwise it's a great show. Oh, I did love how the director chose to set the play during the 50s. Good idea. Worked very well.

Production was well done for what it was, Shakespeare set in the
50's, though I think it lost something in the translation to modern times.
The acting was very good and the performance was entertaining and
enjoyable.

Description

The NVA Ensemble takes on Shakespeare in this uproarious farce about mistaken identity, love and mayhem. Imagine entering a strange land where all of the inhabitants are alien to you, but you are well known, even notorious, to them all. So is the story of Antipholus and his servant Dromio, when they visit a small town and accidentally step into the lives of their long-lost identical twins. A hilarious escapade for the audience and the actors together.
