Spend New Year's Eve laughing at the razor-sharp wit of famed stand-up Paula Poundstone as she slices and dices her way through an evening of keen cultural commentary. Famed for a quick mind that always manages to come up with the perfect quip, Poundstone is a master of riffing off the crowd. It's also why she's the perfect panelist for NPR's Wait Wait ... Don't Tell Me!, where she's featured alongside some of the nation's leading pundits. She's the first woman to be invited to perform at the White House Correspondents' dinner and the first woman to win a CableACE award for Best Stand-Up Comedy performance. Still knocking them dead as a headliner, Poundstone released her latest comedy disc, I Heart Jokes: Paula Tells Them in Boston, in April 2013, and has recently toured as part of The Prairie Home Companion live show. In 4 years when comedian Taylor Williamson returns to Torrey Pines High School for his 10-year reunion, he won’t have to explain what he’s been up to because most of his classmates will already know. The Del Mar native has established himself as one of the brightest up and coming comedians in the country. The local funnyman started his comedy career as a senior in high school. In the very few years since then, he has amassed a very impressive comedy resume: he's been a semi‐finalist on the most recent season of NBC’s Last Comic Standing, made two appearances on CBS’ Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and an appearance on Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham.
Appearing with Williamson will be veteran comedian Lamont Ferguson, who many North County residents know as the creator/producer of the West Coast Funnies; the monthly comedy variety show that has enjoyed an 8-year run in Carlsbad. Ferguson, who grew up in the East County and now lives in Los Angeles, has been seen on Comedy Central and The Tonight Show, and has been the opening act for Bill Cosby, the late George Carlin, Steve Harvey, Garry Shandling and Larry Miller.
The show will be hosted by another North County native funnyman now living in Los Angeles: Matt Balaker. Matt grew up in Carlsbad, attended Carlsbad High School and has been seen on Late Night with Conan O’Brien.
