The quirky world of middle-school spelling competitions takes center stage in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, a hilarious, Tony Award-winning musical about six awkward would-be spelling champions and their even less well-adjusted parents. Staged by award-winning director Sue Ellen Nelsen, Chanticleers Theatre's new production of this Broadway hit features a delightful cast and loads of laughs, as the musical numbers and polysyllabic words fly. Who will win -- and who will learn the valuable lesson that winning isn't everything? And can you use "capybara" in a sentence? The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee spells fun for all (though some mild references to adult topics may not be appropriate for very young audience members). Learn More

We had never attended an event at this local theatre company. We were impressed with the set construction and design as well as the professional acting. The theatre is very small but that only adds to the experience in a positive way.Written on Feb 18 2008

My family and I thought they did a great job. The theater is intimate and it was packed the night we went. The players did a great job. The price was incredible for a live play (I would have paid as much to see a movie). I would definitely go back and see others productions they do.Written on Feb 26 2008

More Information About Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap
Description
Still running on London’s West End, this murder mystery has been captivating audiences for more than 50 years. The suspense builds from the first moment, when a snowbound group gathers in a country inn. The guests include a major, an architect, a young woman and a retired judge. An uninvited stranger with an indefinable accent, Mr. Paravincini, wanders in after his auto skids off the road. There is talk of a murder in town, and a detective arrives to question them. The plot thickens when one of the guests is killed, and the officer intensifies his inquiry. The play’s surprise twists and ending are great fun, and the characters are all wonderfully eccentric.
