The quirky world of middle-school spelling competitions takes center stage in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, a hilarious, Tony Award-winning musical about six awkward would-be spelling champions and their even less well-adjusted parents. Staged by award-winning director Sue Ellen Nelsen, Chanticleers Theatre's new production of this Broadway hit features a delightful cast and loads of laughs, as the musical numbers and polysyllabic words fly. Who will win -- and who will learn the valuable lesson that winning isn't everything? And can you use "capybara" in a sentence? The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee spells fun for all (though some mild references to adult topics may not be appropriate for very young audience members). Learn More

Fun evening of hissing, booing and applauding. The heroine was so sweet, her hero was dashing and sincere, the villain was evil...what could be better!Written on Aug 04 2008

This is a really fun show!! If you go plan on "participating" by hissing and booing and cheering too!! Do go -- it's lots of fun! And be sure and participate in the sing along at the beginning. It was a very enjoyable evening!Written on Jul 15 2008

Description
These two old-fashioned one-act melodramas are a great contrast to the typical modern plays of today, with heroic speeches and rip-roaring melodramatics. You'll hiss and boo at the villain, and cheer and applaud for the hero! It's great fun for the whole family!
