The quirky world of middle-school spelling competitions takes center stage in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, a hilarious, Tony Award-winning musical about six awkward would-be spelling champions and their even less well-adjusted parents. Staged by award-winning director Sue Ellen Nelsen, Chanticleers Theatre's new production of this Broadway hit features a delightful cast and loads of laughs, as the musical numbers and polysyllabic words fly. Who will win -- and who will learn the valuable lesson that winning isn't everything? And can you use "capybara" in a sentence? The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee spells fun for all (though some mild references to adult topics may not be appropriate for very young audience members). Learn More

Mom and children did a great job. Father was a stand-in and stumbled with his lines through out the play. Cute story line, but much too long. Three hours total.Written on May 19 2008

More Information About Life With Father
Description
Life With Father was the longest-running non-musical in Broadway history. In late 19th-century New York, a Wall Street broker likes to think his house runs his way, but finds himself constantly bemused at how much of what happens is beyond his control. His children are also stretching their wings, discovering girls and making money out of selling patent medicine. When it comes to light that he has never been baptized, things really start to come undone. A fun play for the whole family!
