If Strindberg wrote for SNL, or Mamet worked on MADtv, you might get a whiff of the wordplay, a smidge of the smarts that stuffs All In The Timing, a hilarious half dozen one-acts by playwright David Ives (Venus in Fur). Talking monkeys, people transported to another dimension, a language that will unite the world and even a famous composer buying bread -- these are but a few of the delicious set-ups to Ives' remarkable storytelling. Written between 1987 and 1993, each of the six plays has been rehearsed by a different director, creating a piece where you never know what will happen next. Don't miss this award-winning sextet of comedies that combine wit, intellect, satire and fun at the Rice Auditorium. See event description for more details. Learn More

After history professor John Oldman unexpectedly resigns from the University, his startled colleagues impulsively invite themselves to his home, pressing him for an explanation. But they’re shocked to hear his reason for premature retirement: John claims he must move on because he is immortal, and cannot stay in one place for more than ten years without his secret being discovered. Tempers rise and emotions flow as John’s fellow professors attempt to poke holes in his story, but it soon becomes clear that his tale is as impossible to disprove as it is to verify. What starts out as a friendly gathering soon builds to an unexpected and shattering climax.
