Some good voices and a rousing rendition of an old chestnut. Very topical this election year. A little PG/R rated so if you bring the kids a little talk will be in the works

Overall, it was a good production. Costumes, set, and orchestra were excellent. Most of the group numbers were very good. Some of the leads could have had stronger voices. Both women were very good. Some of the congressmen either over or under-acted their roles.

Quotes & Highlights

  • "1776 is a most striking, most gripping musical." —New York Times
  • "In this cynical age, it required courage as well as enterprise to do a musical play that simply deals with the events leading up to the signing of the Declaration of Independence. And 1776 … makes no attempt to be satirical or wander off into modern by-paths. … The result is a brilliant and remarkably moving work of theatrical art." —New York Post
