Set during the rural economic slowdown of the 1970s, playwright Sam Shepard's universally acclaimed Buried Child resonates as strongly today as it did when it launched Shepard's career in 1978. A Pulitzer winner for drama, Buried Child makes for a fierce, forceful and unforgettable portrayal of the realities of the American Dream. The realistic masterpiece mixes comedy and drama, keen commentary and deep emotion in a squalid farm home occupied by a clan filled with suppressed violence, apparent unhappiness and dark secrets. Kenneth Kelleher directs this San Jose Stage Company production. Learn More

One Woman Show. Good story, but elements of the original play other than lead lady were removed, so show was less than 1 hour long. Actress was very good actress and singer. Sometimes band was too loud for the singer to be clear. It's good, but not a Phantom or Cats or Whistle Down the Wind. I do not think this play was appropriate for a one woman show. I'd rather see the other characters.Written on Aug 18 2008

I thought this was going to be a play about a woman trying to "make it" in New York. But it turned out to be a story about a woman's mistakes with men. Not only is this a story told time and time again, but I felt it was too short to feel a genuine connection to any of the character's relationships.Written on Aug 19 2008
