In this powerful drama, the ultimate confrontation between two mothers in South Side Chicago comes as part of the aftermath of a tragic murder. Loosely based on actual events, The Gospel of Lovingkindness tells the story of a young man murdered for a new pair of shoes. His mother, Mary, struggles to put her life back together after his death, only to encounter the mother of his killer. This poetic and potent story examines the too-true reality of a community defined by class, race, gang violence and the church. Learn More

It was both educational and exciting to hear Ayad Akhtar. I'm already a fan of his writing and this interview helped me further understand "American Dervish." The various comments made and questions asked were also helpful.
