Full of humor and hummable tunes, the decidedly adult musical Avenue Q is a hilarious look at life in New York City, featuring a fantastic cast of people and puppets. In its Broadway debut, the show scored the "Triple Crown" of Tony wins, grabbing honors for Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book. The lovable collection of characters, both flesh and felt, includes recent college grad Princeton who moves to Avenue Q full of hope for the future; Kate, the girl/monster next door; and a full complement of colorful and dysfunctional neighbors who ultimately help Princeton discover his true purpose in life. Warning: this show contains full puppet nudity. This production at Stage 773 comes courtesy of Nightblue Performing Arts Company.

Comedy meets the scantily clad as the burlesque-parody, all-female sketch comedy troupe Off Off Broadzway presents its monthly revue, Does My Fat Ass Make My Ass Look Fat? at Stage 773. Gleefully inappropriate, Fat finds the Broadz performing original acts of song, dance and total chaos in a brand new show every month. Sequins and dirty jokes abound as the five Broadz and the show's gloriously creepy "male" host deliver big laughs and an eyeful of entertainment thanks to sharp writing, catchy songs and an anything-goes sensibility. Don't drive, there is a bar inside. Take the red line to Belmont or the 77 bus.

HILARIOUS! Thank you, Stage 773, for bringing Avenue Q to Chicago! This was expertly acted and sung. I especially enjoyed the main character who played Princeton. Great ensemble piece.

First off, the venue at Stage 773 is great. This is a nice intimate theater where every seat is a good seat. The performers really belted out the songs with passion and soul. You'll need to get your head into a town where puppets and humans interact but that's not hard since most of us were raised on Sesame Street. This is just a much, much more adult version of that! If your kids don't yet quite understand the birds and the bees, then leave them home. This play jumps into those themes very well. It's a fun, uplifting edgy play and well worth anyone's time.
