Members Who Went Said:The symphony experience was absolutely amazing and the seats were perfect! I wish the audience had been more respectful though. I have never heard so much coughing and sneezing in my life! It's not even flu season!
Anonymous Member We loved it. Great seat and a perfect night. Thankyou
Corinne G. I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent. Moving, breathtaking, emotional, incredible — just totally awesome! |

Event Highlights
More Details About This Event: Chicago Symphony Orchestra Shostakovich - Symphony No. 4 A champion of Shostakovich’s music, Bernard Haitink leads the Fourth Symphony, a work he first conducted here more than 30 years ago. It’s often the case that great art emerges through great suffering. In Shostakovich’s Soviet Union, darkened by the shadow of Stalin, music was essential—it expressed the ideas and feelings of a people that otherwise had no voice. Perhaps this is why the Fourth Symphony lay dormant, unperformed, for 25 years after its completion. This stunning symphony is now recognized as one of the composer’s boldest and most brilliant scores. About Symphony Center: Orchestra Hall was designed by the famous Chicago architect Daniel Burnham, and finished in 1904. Since that time it has undergone several restorations, including its transformation into Symphony Center in October 1997. |
