Our tour guide, Joyce, really knows her stuff. It wasn't just about chinatown, it was chicago history as well. Every small detail of the architecture, food and recommendations for souvenirs was included in the tour. We went into a church, a Buddhist temple and found our way eventually through both old and new chinatown, ending by the Chicago River and Ping Tom park. Highly recommend this tour!
Chicago’s Chinatown is located in the Armour Square community – also the home of the White Sox! The Chinese population moved to this area in the early 1900s. In the 1980s the Chinatown area was increased with the purchase of the land that now includes a two-level mall, townhouses and condominiums. The Chinatown community continues to grow and thrive. The area has a wide variety of restaurants, gift shops, grocery stores, Chinese medicine stores and cultural spots.
What you’ll see:
Chinatown Square and the 12 Bronze Chinese Zodiac Statues
The Chinatown Gate
Pui Tak Center Building
The Nine Dragon Wall
Ping Tom Memorial Park
Chinese American Veteran’s Memorial
St. Therese Church
