Korean-American comedian Bobby Lee headlines UP Comedy Club. Best known as a cast member on FOX's MADtv from 2001 to 2009, Lee is also a very successful stand-up comic who headlines clubs across the nation. He's appeared on the Tonight Show, Mind of Mencia, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Chelsea Lately, and in the movies Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle, Pineapple Express and The Dictator.. On MADtv, he was known for characters such as the incompetent translator Bae Sung and the Average Asian, as well as his impression of Kim Jong-il.

He was gross. I'm not familiar with his work (only saw a few MadTV episodes), so I was surprised that his entire routine was lurid, graphic details of his depressing life, with an encore of him stripping to his underwear and coming down into the audience to grope strangers. I just felt sorry for him the whole time. His comedy alone would earn him three stars, but the fact that he rubbed his junk on my leg cost him a star. I'll skip it the next time he's in town.

The theater and theater employees were very nice and accommodating. I would definitely attend the venue again, just not the comedian.

Description

Bobby Lee is a Korean-American comedian. Discovered at a junior college in San Diego, he was then spotted by Pauly Shore, who asked him to open for him in Las Vegas. He was a long-time cast member on on MADtv. Among his recurring characters was the Average Asian, who grows increasingly aggravated at stereotypes of Asians, and an impersonation of North Korean dictator Kim Jong-il. His most famous character, however, is Bae Sung, the Korean-Japanese-Chinese-American, who claims be multilingual, but in actuality speaks the "Dumb-ass language".
